I am really glad thet I can share my experiences of presence in IFLA congress With my colleagues. I think it is really a good opportunity for interacting with other IFLA participants.

خوشحالم از اينكه مي‌توانم از اين راه تجربه‌هاي خودم را از آمادگي براي شركت در كنفرانس و مشاهدات زمان حضور در كنفرانس با ديگر شركت‌كنندگان به اشتراك بگذارم و تجربه‌هاي آنها را نيز بخوانم. فرصت خوبي براي ارتباط دوسويه و تعاملي با حاضران در گردهم‌آيي ايفلا به نظر مي‌رسد.

I'm hard involved in planning to attend the conference. It is not exaggeration to say now my mind is completely involved Morning till night and the conference would become soon part of my night dreams-if not my nightmare. The international Federation Widespread activities and the conference diverse Programs make planning seem difficult and complex. The title of many of the Programs and Proceeding, the exhibition and … seem Tempting. I honestly confess that I consider these varied programs as War trophies that I should win.
I have prepared a draft program and I will finalize it this weekend after Advisory meetings we have about IRANDOC presence in IFLA conference.
9 روز بيشتر به آغاز گردهم‌آيي ايفلاي 2010 نمانده است. سخت مشغول برنامه‌ريزي هستم. اغراق نكرده‌ام اگر بگويم به‌صورت شبانه‌روزي جسم و بيشتر ذهنم درگير ايفلا شده است، دور نيست كه ايفلا به خواب‌هاي -اگر نگويم كابوس- شبانه‌ام بدل شود. گستردگي حوزه‌هاي كاري فدراسيون بين‌المللي ايفلا، تنوع برنامه‌ها و فعاليت‌هاي گردهمايي هفتاد و ششم و شروع ديرهنگام برنامه‌ريزي در پژوهشگاه براي ايفلاي امسال كار را در نظرم دشوار و پيچيده كرده است. يك برنامه‌ريزي اوليه انجام داده‌ام كه تا پايان هفته پس از برگزاري جلسه‌هاي هم‌فكري با هم‌كار و هم‌سفر آقاي مهندس جلالي‌منش، مديران محترم روابط عمومي و ارتباطات علمي و رئيس پژوهشگاه، آقاي دكتر سيد اميد فاطمي نهايي‌اش خواهم كرد. عنوان بيشتر برنامه‌ها، نمايشگاه و فهرست شركت‌كنندگان در آن، برنامه‌هاي در حاشيه نمايشگاه و ... همگي وسوسه‌انگيز هستند. اعتراف مي‌كنم كه به حجم عظيم برنامه‌ها و فعاليت‌ها مثل غنائم جنگي‌اي نگاه مي‌كنم كه بايد هرچه بيشتر فتح‌شان كنم. اميدوارم بتوانم در راستاي منافع پژوهشگاه به‌صورت كمي و كيفي از برنامه‌هاي بيشتري بهره ببرم.
Fortunately, IRANDOC will attend in the 76th IFLA General Conference and Assembly with a poster presented by two of the research institute members, Nadia Haji-Azizi, manager of Scientific Communications Office and Sirous Alidousti, Assistant Professor. Here is the poster abstract:

"Live" knowledge instead of obsolete documents by "E-prints"
Publication in refereed journals is essential for scholarly exchanges and also the faculty tenure and promotion process. Thanks to the advent of Internet and networked technologies, "E-prints" in the forms of pre-prints (pre-refereed papers) and post-prints (post refereed papers), are included in many journal websites. The status quo in Iran is that the average waiting time for publishing in journals is more than nine months, and therefore, by the time it is read, it is almost certainly obsolete in terms of frontier research. Nevertheless, none of the periodicals in Iran has had electronic version in full text of the accepted papers or those ready for publication by 2009.
Journal of Information Sciences and Technology (JIST), published by Iranian Research Institute for Information Science & Technology in both paper and electronic formats, provides recently free post-prints in "forthcoming papers" part in its Website. So, it is considered as the only journal which presents e-print archive, in this country.
The purpose of this poster is to illustrate how this initiative is implemented, and also its influence on changing a published paper role as "live" knowledge, capable of stimulating scientific debate at the time of publication, not as a document to be archived as a matter of record.
